The Cosy Yeti Spinning Jenny
Spinning Jennies are multi-spindle fibre spinning machines, doing the work of a spinning wheel, but with more than one thread (or "end") of yarn at a time. Building on more than 250 years of operation and inspired by the legendary British original, my Spinning Jenny is equipped with eight spindles, just as James Hargreaves' early machines were.
Ever since word got out about Hargreaves' world-changing machine, Spinning Jennies have been made all over the world, in all shapes and sizes. Some were operated whilst standing, some seated, some spinning the yarn horizontally, some vertically, some with four spindles for use in the corner of a Welsh cottage, some with 120 spindles (or more!) for use in the cotton mills of Lancashire and beyond.
The way in which Hargreaves' original machine acted upon the wool of Eighteenth Century sheep is exactly the same as the way mine acts upon the wool of their descendants. The result is the same:

yarn spun by hand, a machine powered by foot, under the watchful eye of a single craftsman in very small batches.

yarn spun from your own wool
I take great pride in spinning yarn in small batches from your own wool on the Spinning Jenny and/or the traditional spinning wheel. I have 15 years of experience hand spinning and no order is too small.
If you keep just one sheep and you need the first ball of their yarn in your hands within a fortnight because you can't wait to start that project, chances are I can make it happen.

The yarns I produce change, quite literally, with the seasons. Wool is a natural product that changes with the weather from one growing season to another, it also depends on farming trends & the natural landscape. I think it's exciting to be directly connected with the sheep that grow it.
Yarn will soon be for sale again from this site. If you have any questions, or requests, just click the button below. I'm always happy to chat about all things wool!
