Handspun Dorset Down Ecru Knitting Yarn - Aran
100% Dorset Down handspun wool knitting yarn. 2-ply. 50 grams.
Not Superwash. No synthetic fibre. All sheep!
Scoured, carded, spun, plied and wound by one pair of hands in Shropshire, England.
Dorset Down is classified as a "rare breed" wool, one of the oldest native British breeds of all, and traces its origins back to the south coast of England. The wool is soft and I have spun it in such a way as to try to maintain that natural loftiness in the yarn. Ideal for projects against the skin like hats and mittens etc.
All handspun yarn is characterised by a variation in yarn weight throughout the length of a ball. Measuring 9-11 WPI (wraps per inch), this yarn will knit up best as an Aran weight, but would be acceptable in a project requiring a worsted weight yarn.
Available as either skein or ball (please specify.)
