Handspun Dorset Down / Hebridean Grey Wool Knitting Yarn - Aran
A blend of 50% Dorset Down & 50% Hebridean handspun wool knitting yarn. 2-ply. 50 grams.
Not Superwash. No synthetic fibre. All sheep!
Scoured, carded, spun, plied and wound by one pair of hands in Shropshire, England.
Hebridean wool is a robust black wool, with occasional, subtle, sun-bleached colour variations from the Scottish islands. Dorset Down is a soft, white, rare breed wool from the south coast of England - and here I am in the Midlands blending them together! Both are native to the British Isles and complement each other wonderfully in terms of softness and tonal colour variation.
All handspun yarn is characterised by a variation in yarn weight throughout the length of a ball. Measuring 9-11 WPI (wraps per inch), this yarn will knit up best as an Aran weight, but would be acceptable in a project requiring a worsted weight yarn.
Available as either skein or ball (please specify.)
